All the sunglasses dispensed at your Scher and Ward store will have the CE quality control mark and meet the European Standard for sunglass protection (BSEN 1836:1997) this ensures that your eyes have protection from UVA and UVB.

Choose a pair of sunglasses that you will want to wear. It is no good if your new state-of-the-art sunglasses remain in your bag or in the glove box. The staff at Scher and Ward can advise you on the latest styles, as this is probably one of the most important factors influencing your choice. They will also ensure good fit and comfort.

Feel free to keep them on for a few minutes to assess the comfort and we will make the necessary adjustments to keep your new glasses securely in place.

Make sure you are comfortable with the colour and density of the tint

You need a lens dark enough to reduce glare and be comfortable in bright light but not so dark as to compromise vision e.g. when driving. Typically sunglasses will transmit 15-50% of visible light.

It is sensible to consider where you will wear your sunglasses most of the time. If it is at the beach you will want to choose a transmission of about 15%, if more around town, you may wish them to transmit more light, say 25-30%.

Scher and Ward staff are trained to give you sound advice on lens types, tints and colours

We can fit prescription sunglass lenses to almost any frame and will ensure your sunglasses are good to look at and that you look good in them.
